Professional Certificate in Event Safety & Security Management

In cooperation with the buckinghamshire new university and the international festival organization YOUROPE IBIT offers a modular basic seminar. The programme gives the choice of completing up to eight modules – each module a one-day stand alone class in a specific area of event safety and security. You will need to successfully complete six of the modules in order to be awarded the certificate.

  • Module 1 – Logistics and event planning
Overview of issues and problems influencing the planning and execution of (major-) events. Content includes:
• Everyday problem at (major-) events: actual analysis

• Infrastructural requirements and selection processes

  • Module 2 – Risk evaluation and management 
Introduction to analysis, evaluation and management of hazards and risks regarding (major-) events. Content includes:

  • Module 3 – Business Continuity Management 
Introduction to the basic approach of business continuity management as a part of event planning. Content includes:

• Functionality and overcoming damage
• Damage-notability-analysis
• maximal tolerable downtime

  • Module 4 – Financial Controls for Safety Managers 
Overview of basic knowledge in financial management, controlling for employees and executives. Content includes:
• Costs
• Budget
• Cost centers
• Break-even
• Sales
• Profit-center
• Cashflow-prognosis

  • Module 5 – Leadership & management 
Introduction to management concepts and developing leadership abilities for middle management. Content includes:
• Management processes
• Developing goals
• Leading and deciding processes
• Interorganizational collaboration

  • Module 6 – Legal aspects of events management 
Overview of legal and regulative questions and consequences for practical use. Content includes:
• Introduction to legal basics
• German event regulations
• Responsibilites and transfer
• Health protection and safety at work

  • Module 7 – Emergency planning for events 
Introduction to developing and preparing individual emergency plans for (major-) events. Content includes:
• Basics of emergency planning
• Contents of emergency plans
• Damage experience

  • Module 8 – Design and management for the ingress area, barricade systems and the egress period at events 
Introduction to the basic barricade systems regarding spatial planning, design and functionality. Content includes:
• Influencing factors on design
• Design of the ingress area
• Design of the front of the stage pit
• Requirements for the egress area
